TrendNotes provides state policymakers and advocates with scientific-based research and examples of best practices for advancing innovative oral health policies. The first issue of TrendNotes was the catalyst for Word of Mouth, a publication of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control that promotes the importance of good oral health, advances prevention efforts, and provides state-wide oral health advocates with the information and tools they need to create a South Carolina where every person enjoys optimal oral health.

The National Maternal and Child Oral Health Policy Center is the first place that I consider when I am looking for the latest information and timely analysis on recent federal and state legislation, regulations, political deliberations, policies, and key players in public affairs impacting oral health.

As chair of the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors Policy Committee, I depend upon the expertise of the Oral Health Policy Center and excellent resources such as the Oral Health Policy Tool, Trend Notes, and Issue Briefs. In the fast moving world of politics and policy, the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Policy Center website is a critically needed source of timely information, technical assistance, and advocacy know-how.
